Prof. Manish Kumar

University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), India


Biography:

Dr. Manish Kumar has been serving as the Professor and Head of the Sustainability Cluster in the School of Engineering at UPES, Dehradun, India since 2021. He also holds the position of Distinguished Professor in Water Science at the School of Engineering and Sciences, Tec de Monterrey, Mexico. Following his completion of a PhD from the University of Tokyo, Japan, he worked as faculty at Tezpur University, Assam & Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. Additionally, he served as Visiting Faculty at the University of Nebraska Lincoln (UNL), US. Dr. Kumar's academic background includes studies at esteemed institutions such as Kunsan National University in South Korea; Uppsala University in Sweden; and JNU in New Delhi. Notably recognized for his contributions to research excellence, he is listed among the top 2% researchers worldwide and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC). Furthermore, he has served on an expert panel for UNEP focusing on antimicrobial resistance. Dr. Kumar's research primarily revolves around investigating and expanding our understanding across various aspects related to geogenic contaminants, microorganisms including emerging contaminants present in freshwater systems with a focus on their fate transport mechanisms and remediation techniques employed for mitigation purposes. In addition to his research endeavors, he provides editorial services to prestigious journals such as ES&T Letters , ES&T-Engineering , Nature Partner Journals Clean Water , Science of The Total Environment , Current Pollution Report , Groundwater for Sustainable Development , Reviews Of Environmental Contamination And Toxicology , Hydrological Research Letter.
